Oh my god. That’s ramping up the violence a bit, isn’t it? I’m never going near a dolphin again.

Interesting theory. Atlanteans worshiped almighty dolphin gods that demanded human/awesome cat people flesh to be appeased. In the ultimate attempt to please their gods they sunk their island so that the dolphin gods may feast once again.
This is just like that simpsons episode.
